The majority of our companies are in compliance with all the requirements of the international environment management system norms, we use the resources efficiently, have a systematic waste management in place and adhere to all compliance obligations, thus enjoying the confidence of all interested parties and improving our success. By acting in accordance with clearly defined environment protection and energy efficiency policies we make sure that numerous activities are carried out that contribute to the quality of our surroundings.

A constituent part of the integrated management systems within Fortenova Group companies are food safety systems. The experience of many years in manufacturing high-quality products that cater to the requirements of the market is extended by continuously following health and nutrition trends. The advantage of being able to offer cutting-edge, safe products arises from the Group’s value system, due to which our consumers and customers are provided with the best quality.

Along with ISO 18001, 50001, 22000, OHSAS 18001, our companies also hold the IFS Logistics certificate – version 2.2. in the production of dairy and cured meat products, GLOBAL G.A.P. for plant production as well as RSPO, Donau soja , HACCP, UTZ, NSF (international certification for bottled water) and geographical indication of origin (Belje).

Among the initiated initiatives, we highlight the comprehensive project of creating a carbon footprint calculation study for the entire Group, which we entered into with the Hrvoje Požar Energy Institute (EIHP). Since achieving carbon neutrality is the long-term goal of our sustainability strategy, EIHP has performed a complete calculation of greenhouse gas emissions from Scopes 1, 2 and 3 for the years 2022 and 2023, which will be the basis for defining short-term and long-term goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creation of a strategy and action plan for reducing the carbon footprint in the Fortenova Group.

We are big proponents of projects aimed at reducing food and plastic waste, and this is reflected in the numerous activities of our companies. In addition to the project to reduce the amount of plastic by reducing the weight of plastic packaging and using recycled plastic, a project to introduce a non-detachable cap has started in the entire Beverage Group

Part of the solutions we are developing in the field of advanced analytics based on artificial intelligence and machine learning will also have a sustainable aspect, at least through circular economy initiatives or reducing the amount of materials and packaging used in certain processes.

Donating food is a humanitarian activity that is embedded in the DNA of Konzum HR, because the company has collected and donated more than 1,600 tons of food in Croatia since 2016, when the food donation project was launched, and is one of the largest donors in the country. As the leading retail chain in the field of food donation in Croatia, Konzum HR donated food with a total value of more than EUR 1.2 million in 2022, excluding VAT, which is the largest amount of donated food to date.

The Food Network (a platform for joint program activities financed by the Croatian National Foundation for the Development of Civil Society) and Biljana Borzan, a member of the European Parliament, awarded Konzum HR the Donor award for the sixth time in a row (for the year 2023).
